Very occasionally, by accident, one stumbles upon a discovery or has to “settle” for an alternate plan, and those occurrences are the events that have saved lives, such as the inventor Graham Bell, and Dr. Pasteur, discovering the telephone and the pasteurization process, respectively. I stumbled upon the 3rd annual 3ON3 LA.LIVE basketball tournament at Staples Center, in downtown Los Angeles, on August 6, 2011. Much to my chagrin I was unable to find The LA Clippers Open House event that day and in retrospect, it was a very uplifting experience.
I found amateur men and women from all walks of life, playing basketball ball at this extravaganza. It consisted of live musical entertainment, with both sides of Figueroa Blvd packed with endless basketball tournaments, food, and just good natured fun seemingly ceaselessly abounding everywhere .In fact, many kids were seen enjoying a sweet Saturday afternoon. The gems that I discovered in the rough that day were a team of amputees that were wearing, “$6 million dollar- man type” prosthetics, and playing at an extremely high skill level. They called themselves Amp1; they are an all amputee team that consists of young men who have lost a limb because of a devastating injury, or cancer. In addition to their surprising athletic prowess and nimble dexterity, their goals are to continue playing not only nationally, but also they plan on winning and beating non-disabled players, and also forming a professional league of amputee’s basketball player. These talented basketball gurus are also ambassador’s of good will to both disfigured veterans from the war, and also angels of mercy to the newly formed amputees, who have been devastated by the Haiti earthquake.
Surprisingly enough, I met also both LA Sparks Hall of Famer, Lisa Leslie, and UCLA Hall of Famer,9 year NBA veteran–according to Google, the only person to win an NCAA , NBA, CBA, and foreign basketball championships—ex- New York Knick great, and the former LA Sparks women’s basketball head coach and presently the successful NBA head coach of The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, Henry Bibby, whose team astonishingly , defeated, like David vs. Goliath, The San Antonio Spurs. During an autograph signing session. Mr. Biby called Leslie “the female Michael Jordan”.
Mr. Bibby was also promoting his accidental “invention” which he uses in his amateur and professional training camps——–The DribblePro. According to Marlon W. Morgan, in an article posted January 20, 2011, on-line at commercialappeal.com, Mr. Bibby was conducting a training session and the basketballs that were in his possession became very lumpy , having been left in his car, twisted by the searing heat of the boiling sun. He had an epiphany to create balls, resembling the heat defamed ones, with nodules on them. He invisioned creating a new revolutionary training tool. He felt that this type of ball would mandate a change in dribbling and shooting. He knew that this type of ball would develop and hone players basic skills, thus they would become better player. He liked how it would make his players use their hands and eyes. Thus, he had the basketballs designed and marketed in the shape that the sun deformed the balls that had been left in his car.
Most recently, Mr. Bibby, recently said, on the Maurice Dwayne Smith Show, on the knbstv show on October 9, 2011, “the DribblePro makes players’ hands become their eyes, thus allowing them to concentrate on playing, dribbling, shooting, while concentrating on the opposing players, without looking at the ball.” Furthermore, the basketball great said that this creates a dimension that gives Dribble Pro trained players “The Edge”.”He said that it is a self development-teaching tool. “It teaches you to keep your hands on top of the basketball,” he said. Bibby said your hands become, on the basketball, like your eyes and it teaches one the proper way to develop and control the ball. “Upon dribbling the ball on one of those nodules”, Henry Bibby said, “the ball bounces about 15 and 20 degrees from you and now you have to get control of it. People fail to realize that this ball teaches you the correct way—creating the right spin—to shoot the ball”. Mr. Bibby said “I have been working o this ball for a long, long time. This DribblePro takes you out of the box. It makes you feel. It makes you better It will help parents give their kids a way of getting better. People throw away $50 but you can get DribblePro for that price and invest in a lifetime of improvement and help your kids to get better by developing a feel for the ball and the game. Basketball playing is like having a feel for the game I don’t think that there is any other sport but basketball, “said Coach Bibby. He said it is Just like feeling and creating an image with a camera. Mr. Bibby was referring to a “feel” dimension much like professional photographer Tatiana Davidov, who interestingly enough, was one of 3 members of Maria Amor, humanitarian and beauty pageant mogul’s, non –profit organization, ExotifitforHumanity that was also in the studio, felt too. She said that her strength abounds from working within her “element”——using her camera to catch a glimpse of a person’s essence, as she harnesses the feel of the window’s to their soul that resides within individual’s eyes. She is working on a project called “The Search for the Perfect Creature”, for Ms. Amor. One of the elements of finding this creature will be used in an event that is a swim suit beauty pageant, called “Dare to Bare it”.Tatiana Davidov, of Tatiana’s Magic Photos, is not only a professional in every way, having shot photos of not only the late singer James Brown’s kids, to talk show host Larry King, but she is a also a major player for Maria Amor’s arsenal of well skilled journalists, actors, and professional entertainment media players. She was mirroring Bibby’s assertion that not only is there an element of feeling one’s craft——-indigenous to one’s eyes—- but an image must be created from one’s “element by getting better by refusing to do what others do. They both agreed that one must find the edge and get creative. Coach Bibby jokingly said that Mrs. Davidov “wants to catch, using her camera, people off guard, and living within their habitat” and create something special. Coach Bibby also said that, “I can create certain situations within my element much like Tatiana Davidov, and use it to make things happen”.She agreed.
The two other members of Amor’s empire that were present in the studio were self proclaimed paparazzi Diana Ligon, and Mr. Mike Wilson. They are friends and work together like a team. Ms. Ligon said that, I don’t chase people and perform negatively, as all photographers are not negative”. They are both working on Ms. Amor’s projects, including the upcoming dare to bare swimsuit event, as well as the search for the Perfect Creature. Mr. Wilson said excitedly, “I have been a fan of Mr. bibby, since I was a little kid”. They both want to continue to enhance Amor’s projects, but they also have aspirations to have their own photography company. Mr. Bibby caused quite an excited stir at The American Radio Network’s Studio, as he is a dynamic winner and a passionate speaker. The synergy between Coach and Amor’s media experts, as the conversation was energetic, was electric. Coach Henry Bibby, declined to comment on the the NBA lockout. However, the sentiment was clear. Get DribblePro and improve and get the edge and lookout because Maria Amor is poised to broaden both her humanitarian scope and her entertainment empire.
