Vida Ghaffari is a jewel of West Hollywood—- Awarded certificates of appreciation for her volunteerism from The  West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce at Delphi Greek restaurant—-but also much more importantly, this multi-faceted journalist proves that one can wear a million hats and become a master of them all, acting in tv, commercials, voice-overs, cartoons, movies, hosting, writing and utilizing acting, media, journalism and public relations  and advertising skills with the proficiency of a futuristic multi-media social scientific maestro and makes it look easy. The media turnout was gorgeous, and total strangers rubbed elbows with actors, businesspeople, and legendary famous celebrities, such as, Iranian Film legend, “Apick Youssfian, award- winning author, Saba Tekle, Hollywood award winning female stunt actor, Angela Meryl, “author of, “Stunts: The How to Handbook”,  James Hong, “Blade Runner”, and Academy Award Winner, of the film, “Meet me in St. Louis”, Margaret o”Brien, to name a few, as if it were a 20 year family reunion, full of love, life’s experiences, memories and heartfelt sincerity. When Vida arrives , it is like a dream as she  brings her zest and passion and love seemingly  saturates the air and animosity is instantly vaporized, civility overflowing.

In fact, she told me ,  ” The West LA Chamber of Commerce. They gave me the award as I have covered their events as a journalist and supported the area with my volunteer work. Though most of my volunteer work is downtown (Midnight Mission, 826 LA”. Tonight, June 18, 2015, it was a mission of love and gratitude and Vida’s work, her passion, and her spiritual fumes resonated deep within Westwood, much like the 80’s famous perfume commercial, “Your windsong stays on my mind”, was being honored, as she had written her name on our hearts,  by the W Los Angels Chamber. Here good deeds, fantastic culinary dynamics–great food and wine–at The Delphi Greek, and the Summertime magic in the air, made the atmosphere, reminiscently almost like the last day of school, in which  students erupt, as if shot out of  shackles, where they’d  been temporarily sentenced to studying, and  tests, sprung free for  their three months hiatus before the next year, humming, “School’s out all Summer”, for the bliss of decadent mischief and carefree frivolity: We were as kids!

A truly gifted performer in her own rite, having worked in roles at Comedy Central, 2007 ” Deal or We Will Kill Your whole Family”, The Mindy Project, an Award winning cartoon, directed by Emmy Award nominated producer, Dominick Polcino, (Simpsons), “Love Struck Fools”, two films poised to be released in 2015, Natural Born FilmMakers__spoof of the 90’s film, the  immensely successful  and controversial, ” Natural Born Killers–, and just to name a few,  “Seeking Valentina”, one of Vida’s strongest qualities may be in deflecting the spotlight, even in the midst of her most sharpest illumination,  as if, like Sly and The Family Stone once said in their 60’s smash hit song, Everybody is a Star”,   embracing others and praising  and empowering others’ lives  the within the glare of her successes. One gets the notion  that all persons may be created equally but in Vida’s world, the gravity is mandated and exercised by the sheer humanity of each individual person.  You feel her genuine “Heartlight”, an intense aura of love, glamorized by Kenny Loggin’s ” 80’s smash hit, “Heart light”.

Roozbeh Faraanipour, The owner of Delphi Greek, and  The President of  West Los Angeles’s  Chamber of Commerce, on this sweet Summer breezed evening, in which President Obama’s visit to this vicinity locked up traffic tighter than a lemon parched mouth, opened up his restaurant and his heart and out poured gratitude for an extremely loveable and talented thespian turned multi-media soon to be entertainment mogul, and not a single beat of enmity traveled within these strangers united by one single thread of humanity and love for Vida Ghaffari. And all of these guests, a multi-diversified combination of the most fun-loving beautiful people in California  battled Obama-Pocalypse———-I had to run half a mile to get there, the traffic unbending, stuck ice-cold and unmoving— had to be there for Vida’s day. She has always been there for others and today, with her mom and sister in attendance, Vida, bespeckled with jewels, took home the most highly coveted prize of the evening, the admiration, love and utter respect of her peers and friends. Congratulations, also  Vida Ghaffari  from COLD HEAT NEWS!!

I was born in Fountainbleu in Paris France to an army family. My father ,Ruben Smith, and my mother Nancy Smith, worked for the Army and as a school teacher in France, respectively. We are originally from the South. My father’s people from Misissippi and Alabama and my mom’s from South Carolina. I am an avid sports fan and I attended and played sports----football, wresting, and track----- at Bishop England High School, in Charleston, South Carolina; my mom chose both a Catholic high school and an elementary school, Immaculate Conception, for my sister and I. Initially, I wasted a lot of time in school pursuing sports and partying but nevertheless,I went to the College of Charleston, The University of South Carolina, where I majored in Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, with a minor in Theatre and Speech. I finally graduated from The University of Redlands, in Redlands, CA with a degree in business management. I managed to get into SAG-AFTRA, mostly as an extra, but I have done an occasional speaking stint here and there—CD-ROMs, experimental and industrial films, and voice overs in radio. My most recent endeavor was playing a doctor on "Grey's Anatomy". I like horror, love, thrillers, and I like to read. Weightliftingand jogging are some of my hobbies also. Interestingly enough, my family prepared me for a life on the move, as I have been to every state in The USA except for Alaska and Hawaii. I have an older sister who chose the teaching profession and is doing quite fine. What was i like as a child? Well I tend to think that I existed and flourished within "a culture of hate"--------however South Carolina has ceased and desisted with both "The jim Crow Laws' and flying the Confederate Flag------------I witnessed "colored only" bathrooms, and was in establishments where the Klan showed up. I stayed at hotels where my family and I found pounds of raw CHITTERLINS---hogs guts----- at our doorstep!! But don't get me wrong, as despite these ugly truths about the South, I grew up with some very cool whites, mexicans, Filipino's and other races. But it is what it is. It has Metamorphosized into being a cultural and real estate melting pot, as many from other states are recently flocking there for the cheaper home prices, very stable, safer lifestyle and "bible belt" mentality, and affordable education. I too have Metamorphosized , as I am not the militant little athletic, and partying freak I used to be and have settled into writing for Cold Heat News and assisting We Care for Humanity with their charitable functions. Consequently, I am pretty much a normal army brat who has realized that life is what you make it and people and things are subject to change. So change with life and let by gones be by gones. My dad has since passed away, and my mom and sister and most of my cousins are still alive, but their positive, significant influence, along with the impact my elementary and high school friends have had on me continues on;infact, I believe, where it not for my childhood friends, my high school football Coach Jack Cantey and occasional teenage battles with my dad, I would have become a gang member! Thus my personal manifesto is, Live hard, party when it is time, and utilize both education, and Love for God, and know that FAMILY AND FRIENDS are most important; They're one's conduit for a viable and happy life. ALSO, A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND---NOT A "FAIR WEATHER"------INDEED.
