Hiram Simms's--Hiram Sims Executive Director at The Community Literature Initiative at 2702 West Florence Ave,LosAngeles CA, 90043--crusade to buy what he considers to be a sanctuary for poets and talented people of letters, initiated a call to action, called, " Words Worth Saving" , December 6, 2024 put his flag ininuatingly like a " for artistic sakes" into the community seeking equally yoked poets and lovers of the arts, people capable of loving poetry and willing to create a fruitful environment for it's adornment and cultivation and protection of poems and poets alike.
Infact, he said, ' We’re currently racing to secure enough funds for a down payment to own this space. Without this, we face the devastating possibility of losing a resource that has proven to be vital for our community and beyond. That’s why we’re asking for your help.
Donate by texting SIMS to 53-555—every dollar counts toward preserving this vital space.'
As a result, some of the must talented poets, from within South Llos Angeles, enroute to an enriching and entertaining night, donated momey and focused on raising funds to buy the Simms library, while infusing fellowship and goodwill via quality open Mike dynamic heartfelt performances at the Simms Library.
Collectively not only did they touch each other's hearts and generated funds but also ate delicious home spun, onsite created delicacies via Simms talented award-winning Chef Recco.
